Notice from Dublin Tenants Association
“We hope you’ll join us: March 13th, upstairs in Connolly Books at 7pm.
Email dublintenants@gmail.com for further details/information
We will be joined by Gavin Elliot, Legal Officer with the housing charity Threshold and Mick Byrne from the Dublin Tenants Association
Every tenant deserves to feel secure in their home and to live a life free from the fear of eviction. Unfortunately, security of tenure provisions in Ireland are among the worst in western Europe, allowing a landlord multiple opportunities to evict a tenant from their home
On April 7th, housing activists will come together with community groups and trade unions for a national demonstration to protest the ongoing housing crisis, a crisis which affects thousands across Ireland and which lays bare the deep inequalities present within this country.
We, as renters, faced with extortionate rents and little security in our homes, sit at the heart of this crisis.
As part of #April7th, the Dublin Tenants Association is organising two spring time public forums around the theme of security of tenure.
On the night we’ll discuss the law related to security of tenure in Ireland, the problems with the current position, and the measures needed to improve security of tenure. We’ll also talk about tenant organising and open the discussion to the floor — what are the changes we want to see and ways to get there?
These forums will be used as a base for ongoing organising and campaigning for improved tenant rights. ”
